With an old WordPress website that was out of date and not providing parents with the information they needed, Balgreen Primary approached us and asked us to create a new website that was super simple to update and reflected the vibrant and unique ethos of which they are so proud.

Our first stage in the process was to speak to both teachers and parents to truly understand what the limitations of the old website were and understand any constraints and the capabilities within the school to make sure the new website would work for them.
We spoke to parents to understand what the key information was that they needed to see and were able to create the site structure around this.
The design features a blend of custom illustrations alongside photos of the school and pupils. Using the "be all you can be" motto as inspiration, we asked the kids what they wanted to be, with their answers reflected in fun doodles overlaid on their picture.
We used the colours of the school uniform as our theme throughout the website, which provided a great contrast between the jade green and the darker greys.
We built the site using our latest Umbraco 8 framework, which allows for super simple updating of pages, to make sure relevant information can be updated when needed.
Instead of creating 100s of pages for the teachers to update, we integrated Twitter onto the homepage to provide a quick and visual way to show parents what their children were up to during their days at school.
We also helped the school populate and update the content on the site, ensuring consistency in the page layouts throughout the site. Key staff were trained to update the website, they tell us that "this is an easy and straightforward process which we can now manage".
