The Smith School Series is an education programme that teaches pupils about the life, work and times of Adam Smith and how the Scottish Enlightenment influenced the world.

The first step in this project was to carry out an audience profiling exercise to establish the different types of users and how their needs vary.
Next, we mapped out the required content for both students and teachers, to establish how each piece should be presented and displayed as engagingly as possible.
We worked closely with the client to bring the main students area of the microsite to life, in the form of a clickable prototype. This ensured key interactions, screen designs and creative direction was firmly established before moving to the build stage.
Visual direction was agreed with our client for the illustrations before our illustrator set about crafting visual elements for the microsite. Close collaboration through the production process ensured all visual and animated elements fit seamlessly into the end product.
We built a host of new components, including an interactive map of Edinburgh map with points of interest for kids to learn more, a timeline of Adam Smiths life, an escape room with tasks and quizzes, a pop-up help feature and a reward system of points and coins for students to collect.
Using Umbraco we set up the full resource to be accessed via a login, allowing pupil member accounts to be set up by teachers.
