With technical problems hampering their old website, J. & J. Denholm knew it was time to embark on a web development project. However, when the world began going into lockdown due to the Coronavirus, it was clear their new online presence was something that couldn't wait.
With technical issues hindering our access to the old websites, our team used Archive.org to get an understanding of the structure, design and content of the sites. This gave us a starting point, but there was still lots to do.
With the Coronavirus lockdown and worldwide shift to digital working, there was a clear need to get this project delivered as quickly and effectively as possible.
As with all of our projects, we worked closely with J. & J. Denholm to understand how they will be using their websites when we deliver them.
With our agency and the client in lockdown along with the rest of the world, we started and delivered this project entirely remotely.
We built their new websites on Umbraco 8, which is a robust and effective content management system that is ideal for this type of project.
All 11 websites were created within a single installation of Umbraco 8, which means they can be managed and maintained centrally.
We created a number of shared components to make it easier for the company to create centralised assets to use on multiple sites - for example, location widgets, call to actions for cross-linked content, and sliders.
Despite the monumental task at hand, our remote team were able to deliver all 11 new websites in only 3 weeks from the initial brief being created.
Usually, we'd invite new clients to our studios to go through Umbraco training so their team can get the most of their new websites. But on this occasion one of our developers created a series of bespoke training videos for the client. It's all part of the service!
